Tattnall's Smelter signs with Georgia Tech
DeAndre Smelter recently signed a full baseball scholarship with Georgia Tech. Smelter was a key player on both the 2008 and 2009 GISA AAA State Baseball Championship teams at Tattnall. As a football player, Smelter was named to the GISA All-State team his sophomore and junior years for his key role on the 2006 and 2007 TSA State Championship teams. He also helped the 2008 basketball team to the Final Four, and was named Macon Telegraph Football, Basketball, and Baseball Athlete of the Year, in addition to their overall Athlete of the Year. Smelter is currently ranked the #5 baseball player in the nation for the Class of 2010.
