This notification is being sent to inform you of an incident which occurred at Morgan Elementary School on Friday, February 26, and it comes in an effort to provide accurate information.
 
On Friday, February 26, students reported to a teacher that another student had a weapon.  In the ensuing investigation, a .22 caliber revolver was found in the student’s desk.  The gun was immediately confiscated.  The Campus Police Department was contacted, and they immediately responded.  The gun has been seized as evidence, and will be turned over to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office for processing.
 
The student has been suspended pending an evidentiary hearing.
 
Our students are to be commended for reporting what they saw, and our faculty, staff and Campus Police are to be commended for their calm and efficient response to this situation.
 
We want to ensure parents and the community that Morgan Elementary School and the Bibb County School District have procedures in place to protect students and faculty.  Morgan Elementary School continues to be a safe learning environment.
