It's summertime! What are your family's vacation plans?:

Taylor Peterson Crowned Miss Warner Robins Outstanding Teen 2010!

Taylor Peterson, an 8th grader at Mossy Creek Middle School, was recently crowned Miss Warner Robins Outstanding Teen 2010.  She will be competing at the Miss Georgia Outstanding Teen pageant in June.

Taylor's platform is Friends of the Library (FOL), a national organization that through fundraising efforts, financially supports our local libraries.  Since Taylor has been crowned, she has been very active in her community volunteering her time and talents:

Donating books at “The Lord’s Table,” Christ Lutheran Church's soup kitchen . . .

reading to children at a Princess Party at the library . . .

and donating books to the Children’s Hospital Oncology wing!

Through her work with FOL, Taylor saw a need to provide books to those individuals who may not be able to get to the library or obtain a library card.  She created a book project called “Reading on My Mind.”  Through the donations of generous people in our community, Taylor has collected over 600 books so far, with a goal of over 1,000.  She delivers these free books to women’s shelters, hospitals, homeless shelters, and soup kitchens.
