Around Town Magazine Wins KWRB Media Award
Members of Keep Warner Robins Beautiful (KWRB) hosted the Annual Volunteer Recognition and Awards Luncheon at the Wellston Center. Representatives of city government, business and industry, as well as civic and social organizations, were present to receive recognition for support of KWRB programs.
Keep Warner Robins Beautiful Business Awards of Merit were presented to the following corporate and business partners: Flint Energies, Riverfront Landscaping, Robins Federal Credit Union (Watson Boulevard branch), Sign Ventures, Sonny’s Real Pit Bar-B-Q, Thrifty Car Rental, WalMart #1367 (Watson Boulevard), Wal-Mart #3750 (Booth Road), Warner Robins Supply Company and Warner Robins Wrecker & Towing Service.
Print Media Awards of Merit were presented to Around Town Magazine, Houston Home Journal and The Telegraph newspapers. The Broadcast Media Award of Merit was presented to WNNG AM 1350 radio station.
The Central Georgia Board of Realtors and Georgia Military College Biology Club each received an Education Partnership Award. The Community Partnership Award was presented to the Warner Robins Area Chamber of Commerce.
Cherokee Rose Garden Club, Greenbriar Garden Club, Miller Elementary School Litter Bug Club and Warner Robins Pilot Club were recognized with certificates of appreciation for providing volunteer involvement during the year.
KWRB Environmental Partnership Awards were presented to Atlanta Recycling Solutions, Diversified Carriers, Inc., Happy Hour Service Center, Robins AFB
Environmental Management Division and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The Home of the Year Award was presented to Ruth Grantham. Cantrell Center received the Business of the Year Award. Cheryl Taylorwas selected by fellow KWRB members as the Commissioner of the Year.
Rob Cooper accepted the President’s Award and passed the gavel to incoming Chairman Claire Taylor. Francis Wilson and Regina Palladeo were introduced as First and Second Vice Chairmen, respectively.
Community Leaders Featured on Cover of New Community Magazine

Warner Robins - Community leaders from Houston County, including Dr. Ivan Allen, president of Middle Georgia Technical College (MGTC), gathered at the College in Warner Robins for a cover photo shoot for the first edition of the new Around Town Warner Robins magazine. A sister publication to Around Town North Macon, the magazine made its Houston County debut in November.
This inaugural edition featured interviews with community leaders who shared their thoughts on what makes Houston County a great place to live and work. Featured community leaders include Major General Polly Peyer, commander of the Warner Robins Air Logistics Center, Air Force Materiel Command, Robins Air Force Base; Colonel Warren Berry, 78th Air Base Wing and Installation commander at Robins Air Force Base; Larry Collins, mayor of Byron; Clifford Holmes, acting mayor of Warner Robins; Grady W. "Skip" Phillips, CEO of Houston Healthcare; Jerry Walls, senior pastor of Southside Baptist Church; Harold Edwards, mayor of Centerville; David Carpenter, superintendent of Houston County Schools; Morgan Law, executive director of the Houston County Development Authority; Edward Rodriguez, CEO and president of the Warner Robins Area Chamber of Commerce; James Worrall, mayor of Perry; Jeff Scruggs, vice president for Technology and Institutional Support Services at MGTC; and Michelle Siniard, vice president for Administrative Services at MGTC.
