Letter to the Community

Dear Community Members:

As our magazine has matured and interest has grown since the publication of our first magazine in 2007, we have quickly discovered that neighborhoods in Macon, not just North Macon, have a keen interest in reading our magazine. The degree of this wide interest grew even further after adding our second publication in the Warner Robins and Perry communities in 2008. We further found that community members living in Macon wanted to read the magazine in Warner Robins and Perry, and vice versa.

Editorial submissions and advertising requests wanted to target both magazines. We would get phone calls and e-mails asking how to get information into both magazines. When writing our features, we found that we were writing articles on the same topic, and publishing them separately among the two magazines.   In effect, we discovered that if we had one magazine that reached out to more communities, and covered these communities separately in one magazine, we would not only be able to allow readers to learn about what’s going on in their community, but other communities as well. In addition, we would be using our resources more effectively and decrease confusion with those seeking to contribute to the magazine.

With this gained knowledge, only achievable through our own experiences, we have made the decision to re-brand our magazine. With the new and more inclusive approach of how we structure the magazine and represent a larger number of communities through one magazine, we wanted a new brand and new name that community members can associate with this new approach. The new name of our magazine is “MyTown Monthly magazine,” which better represents the magazine, because as the name hints, it’s the reader’s magazine… “my” magazine in “my town.” The topics covered in the magazine will remain the same, and each community will be represented, while maintaining a local feel.

We are confident that MyTown Monthly magazine will remain the magazine that Middle Georgia community members look forward to receiving in their mailboxes each month, and local businesses will continue to value as their preferred avenue of advertising because businesses will be able to reach more community members in the Middle Georgia area.

What’s staying the same?

· MyTown Monthly magazine will represent the voice of our local communities , and spotlight these communities through local writers, community-oriented features, community news, school news, helpful resources, and more of what our community looks forward to each month.

· MyTown Monthly magazine will be mailed free of charge to homes and businesses.

· Additional pick-up copies of MyTown Monthly magazine will be available in our local communities.

· MyTown Monthly magazine will offer the same committed and individualized customer service to both readers and advertisers.

· MyTown Monthly magazine will publish daily news, pictures in the community, blogs, and much more on our website. The eMagazine of MyTown Monthly magazine will be available online to download, share, and allow even more community members in Middle Georgia to read and enjoy.

What’s changing?

· Two magazines are now becoming one all-encompassing magazine with a newly branded name.

· One all-inclusive magazine will allow readers to learn about what’s going on in their community, as well as other Middle Georgia communities.

· Advertisers will be able to reach a larger and wider-ranging audience covering communities stretching from Monroe County through Bibb County and Jones County, and down to Peach County through Houston County.
