FPD 6th Grader Wins RPS Tournament

First Presbyterian Day School 6th grader Anna Griggers recently won a local “Rock, Paper, Scissors” tournament that served as a fundraiser for Haiti earthquake victims.
Participants from local private schools FPD, Stratford, Tattnall, and Mount de Sales each paid $3 to compete in the tournament, which culminated in the championship round during the regional basketball tournament.
 

Central Georgia Middle School Math Competition at Bonaire on March 6

Bonaire Middle School will host a middle school math competition for central Georgia on Saturday, March 6, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Currently, 10 schools from eight counties have registered.  Students from Bibb, Crawford, Crisp, Hancock, Houston, Pulaski, Sumter, and Twiggs counties will compete in this interactive contest.

About 2,400 Teens To Attend Health Forum

Approximately 2,400 Houston County 8th graders will attend a teen health forum on Tuesday, March 9.  The program will run from 9:40 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. at the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter Miller-Murphy-Howard Building in Perry.  Students will attend presentations that emphasize the consequences of decisions, and the impact of such decisions on the rest of their lives.  Students from public and private middle schools in Houston and Crawford counties are expected to attend.

Mount de Sales Tennis Coach Recognized by USTA


Mount de Sales Academy tennis coach Greg Spicer has been honored by the United States Tennis Association (USTA) as part of its national recognition program for high school tennis coaches across America who implement a “no-cut” policy for their high school tennis teams.

Mount de Sales Students Visit Andersonville National Historic Site


Mount de Sales Academy 8th grade students recently toured the Andersonville National Historic site and visited a local Mennonite farm.

Sacred Heart Students Donate To Warner Robins' Christian Service Center


Sacred Heart Catholic School Students mark the end of "Catholic Schools Week" with a big donation to the local Christian Service Center in Warner Robins.  All week, students collected items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, peanut butter, canned goods, and baby items.  The school began the week with a proclamation from Warner Robins Mayor Chuck Shaheen.

Bibb Student Media Festival Winners To Be Recognized at Macon Film Festival

For the third year, International Student Media Festival winners from Bibb County will be recognized at the Macon Film Festival (MaGa).  At the most recent International Student Media Festival, 62 students were named winners, and 25 student projects will be presented on the big screen to the community at MaGa.  The public is invited to see these outstanding projects that won top honors, and there will be no admission charge.

Mount de Sales Students and Faculty Participate in Sav-A-Life March


Mount de Sales Academy recently participated in the annual Sav-A-Life March.  Seventy-eight student and faculty walkers marched from MDS to join the annual national march.
